Shelajit is back and this time collaborating with incredibly talented Arula. The two combine to create what sounds like a modern incarnation of Portishead, set over Deep Dubstep beats.
The beats are subtle yet intricate, combined with gently vibrating wobbles and eery synths that set an almost brooding atmosphere that is lit up with Arula’s soulful vocals. The lyrics come in perfectly wherever the one opens up space for them to flourish.
This tune could be haunting for some and a lullaby for others as it sits right in that in sweet spot of a warm emotional embrace and yet at the same time possibly being mournful too. Take this journey with them and you’ll feel something.

Like the medicinally rich black tar which she derived her name, Shelajit represents the primal embodiment of the deep, feminine, void of creation. As a lifelong dancer, she intentionally creates music to inspire deep dancefloor journeys. Shelajit's sound is an array of tribal bass, dubstep, downtempo, and half-time with organic textures, dreamy soundscapes, and layered percussion. She feels most inspired when she collaborates with other femme artists and values the potency of unified self-expression.

Arula is a singer-songwriter, sound-healer, electronic music producer, DJ, and embodied movement guide who values music and movement as sacred expressions of a universal language; a language that unites and empowers us. She views expression as a path to awakening; a sacred gateway to exploring the different parts of ourselves, the light & the shadow, exploring duality as a path toward unity.
